Job Description

OVERVIEW OF CCA 

The Community College of Aurora serves our diverse community by providing high-quality instruction and support services to prepare students for transfer and employment. POSITION SUMMARY: 
The Career Coach for Career & Technical Education (CTE) will work directly with our diverse population to prepare CTE students to be career ready upon graduation. The Career Coach will work with students to discuss their career goals and provide individualization coaching services to support workforce re-entry. The Career Coach will also provide skill-based programming and career related events and work directly with the CCA Workforce Development team to streamline employer relationships that offer competitive and sustainable employment opportunities for CCA students. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 
Career Coaching

  • Provide delivery of a variety of workshops and 1:1 support opportunity that are focused on ensuring student workforce readiness throughout the entire student journey
  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Career Coaching & Readiness and Workforce Development team to align learning outcomes to career readiness preparation.
  • Facilitate opportunities for CTE students to develop career conversations, skill development and preparation for the job opportunities they are applying for.
  • Create and conduct surveys, feedback opportunities, and other data collection of current CTE students and alumni to inform the creation and iteration of support needs.
  • Help CTE students develop understanding of required transferable skills needed for their desired career pathway.
  • Maintain awareness of CTE careers and workforce trends, industry requested transferable skills, and career readiness resources.
  • Facilitate and build industry partnerships alongside the Workforce Development team to provide internship and apprenticeship opportunities to students.
  • Execute the assessment creation and rollout of CTE program performance and postsecondary workforce readiness (PWR) competencies. 
  • Facilitate ongoing events focused towards CTE students as well as ‘CTE Day’; a partnership with local high schools.
Office Administration:? 
  • Create, manage, and retain all department paperwork to ensure monthly procurement card reconciliations are completed in accordance to CCA guidelines.
  • Ensure office space and storage is functional, clean, free of clutter; supplies and resources are easily accessible; inventory is fully stocked; staff and student employees have what they need to be successful.
  • Assist in the developmental and management of career readiness budget and inputting expenditures on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage event risk and liability issues in conjunction with the Student Leadership & Development leadership team as they arise.
  • Provide quality and timely customer service to all Career Coaching & Readiness and Student Leadership & Development requests in person or via phone and email. 
  • Participate in college, division, team meetings and professional development opportunities, as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Leadership & Development 
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree in Human Services, or a similar field from an accredited college or university (degree obtained by start date)
  • One year experience in a career related field
  • Detail oriented with evidence of problem solving and flexibility 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion with experience working with underrepresented and historically marginalized populations
  • Exceptional organizational and time management with demonstrated ability to plan, coordinate, prioritize, and effectively manage multiple initiatives, programs and events.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working in team-based environments.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and overnight, as needed
  • Hold a valid driver’s license to drive between campuses
 
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services, or a similar field from an accredited college or university (degree obtained by start date)
  • Experience working in a community college environment
  • Experience working with Career and Technical Education students 
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to make data informed decisions
  • Experience working in a career services, workforce development
  • Experience advising or coaching students 
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish 

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION

Salary Range:  Anticipated starting salary range is $58,000.00 annually. This salary is determined by the qualifications of the selected candidate balanced with departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information. CCA offers an excellent benefit plan, including generous leave, holiday, and education benefits. Full time employees immediately upon hire earn 15 hours a month annual leave and 10 hours a month sick leave.
