Vice President for Financial Services and Technology
Job Description
The Vice President for Financial Services and Technology provides executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization’s Accounting, Finance, and Technology operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Directs and oversees the daily operation of the Accounting, Finance & Technology offices. Specifically responsible for the management of the Business office, Information Systems Services, Accounting, and Payroll.
- Develops accounting policies and procedures in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and Financial Standards Board standards.
- Oversees budget development and budget management of campus-wide budgets.
- Directs and oversees financial reporting; Prepares monthly, quarterly, annual, and periodic financial statements in compliance with GAAP. The reports include statement of financial position, statement of activities, statements of cash flow, and notes associated with each report and other informational reports and requests; ensures accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
- Oversees the acquisition of property, management of property leases, and rentals of CBU homes to faculty and staff.
- Secures financing for property acquisitions, construction projects, capital equipment and revolving lines of credit.
- Prepares monthly, annual, and periodic continuing disclosure reports for bond holders, banks and financial institutions.
- Monitors operations and policies for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Oversees the financial management, reporting and bond covenants for all CBU related entities.
- Develops and presents University wide budget information, financial reports other information as needed by University leadership and board of trustees.
- Designs, establishes, and maintains an organizational structure and staffing to effectively accomplish the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Develops and manages banking relationships.
- Prepares reports for audits of federal and state financial aid funds.
- Oversees and manages risk management. Develops and oversees the creation of strategies, controls, and measures to monitor and mitigate the risk exposure of assets and to identify points of improvement. Continuous reviews to ensure risks are identified and managed effectively. Promotes organization-wide understanding of risk management strategies.
- Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
- Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles
- Ability to develop and maintain recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
- Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
- A mature Christian faith and affiliation with a Southern Baptist Church.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard or other office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment, with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
Education and/or Experience
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Master’s degree (M.A.) in related field or equivalent; or four to ten years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Certified Public Accountancy (CPA) certificate is required.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using shole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
